Bird Boarding Drop-Off Checklist: What to Bring to BST

Bird Boarding Drop-Off Checklist
Getting ready for your bird's boarding stay is straightforward. Use this checklist to make sure you have everything packed and ready.
What to Bring
- Bird's cage (unless renting from BST — then just bring a carrier)
- Bird food (pellets, seeds, any fresh food preferences)
- Any medication with dosage instructions (message us ahead of time)
- Favorite toys (optional, but helps with comfort)
- Carrier for transport (recommended, especially for larger cages)
- Winter: cover/blanket for carrier or cage to protect from cold
- Up-to-date vet records (required if your bird will interact with others)
Important: Message or email Samantha your bird's care details before drop-off day — this ensures nothing is missed and we can prepare properly for your bird's arrival.
Vet Records & Health Requirements
- Domesticated birds: Up-to-date vet records within the last year are required if your bird will interact with other birds during out-of-cage time
- Wild-caught or rescue birds: Viral testing is required before boarding to protect the health of all birds in the facility
- If you're unsure of your bird's vet status, contact Samantha before booking
Food Packing Tips
- Pack enough food for the full duration of the stay, plus a few extra days as a buffer
- Label bags clearly with your bird's name and feeding instructions
- If your bird eats fresh food (chop, fruits, vegetables), let us know the specifics — BST can supplement with fresh offerings
Medication & Health Notes
If your bird is on any medication, please provide:
- The medication itself with clear labeling
- Dosage instructions (amount, frequency, how to administer)
- Your avian vet's contact information in case of questions
- Any known allergies or health conditions we should be aware of
Note: Medication administration may incur an additional charge. BST reserves the right to decline boarding for birds with serious or contagious illnesses.
Facility Tours
BST does not offer in-person facility tours. All interactions at drop-off and pick-up take place on the main floor or driveway area. To see the boarding space, check out our introductory video on YouTube, or browse our other facility walkthrough videos on our YouTube channel.
