Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 6, 2026

1. Introduction

Bird Sitting Toronto ("we", "us", "our") operates Learn BST (learn.birdsittingtoronto.ca). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our platform.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Display name (optional)
  • Password (securely hashed — we never store plaintext passwords)

Usage Data

We automatically collect:

  • Course enrollment and progress data
  • Quiz scores and completion status
  • Achievement and XP data
  • Certificate information

Chat Data

Conversations with our AI chat assistant (Polly) may be stored to improve the service and for quality assurance. Chat transcripts may be emailed to our team for review.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain your account
  • Track your learning progress and issue certificates
  • Improve our educational content and platform
  • Send important notifications about your account or courses
  • Notify our team when users sign up, start courses, or earn certificates

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted database platform with enterprise-grade security. Authentication is handled through secure, industry-standard protocols. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase — Authentication and database storage
  • Vercel — Website hosting and deployment
  • OpenRouter / Anthropic — AI chat assistant (Polly)
  • PostHog — Product analytics. Records the pages you visit and the actions you take on them so we can see which guides are useful and where people get stuck.
  • Vercel Analytics & Speed Insights — Page-view counts and loading-performance measurements.
  • Sentry — Error monitoring, including session replay: when something breaks, Sentry may record a reconstruction of your session — the pages, clicks and text on screen around the error — so we can reproduce it. This can include information you had typed into a form at the time.
  • Bird Sitting Toronto analytics — A first-party script served from mybird.birdsittingtoronto.ca that counts visits across the Bird Sitting Toronto sites.

Each service has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing their policies for details on how they handle data.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. These cookies are necessary for the platform to function and cannot be disabled.

We also use analytics cookies and similar technologies through the services listed in section 5 — PostHog, Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights, Sentry, and our own Bird Sitting Toronto analytics script. These record how the site is used so we can improve it. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run ad networks, and we do not sell or share this data with advertisers.

You can block analytics cookies with your browser's settings or a content blocker; the site works normally without them.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your learning progress data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us through our website at birdsittingtoronto.ca

8. Children's Privacy

Learn BST is designed for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email.
